Sterling Anderson leads Tesla’s Autopilot program, an advancing suite of autonomous and semi-autonomous capabilities deployed on over 70,000 privately owned vehicles worldwide. In 2015, Sterling led the Model X program from its early development builds through launch. Before joining Tesla, Sterling cofounded two autonomous-vehicle ventures and advised several Fortune 100 companies as a management consultant with McKinsey. He holds a BS from Brigham Young University and an MS and PhD from MIT, where his work in shared autonomy paved the way for advances in cooperative control of human-machine systems.
